An accomplished technology professional, Florian “Flo” Leibert brings over 13 years of experience to his work as the chief cloud officer of D2IQ, a leading digital software company in San Francisco, California. As one of the founders, Florian Leibert led various product developments to improve the company’s service.
One of the companies that implemented D2IQ’s technology solutions was Vandebron, a digital marketplace that serves as a trading platform for renewable energy producers and consumers in the Netherlands. Vandebron realized the problem that exists as a result of the innate unpredictability of renewable energy production. As such, the company decided to develop a wind forecasting pipeline that could accurately predict energy output one day in advance. To accomplish its goal, Vandebron turned to D2IQ to build a modern infrastructure capable of large-scale and real-time data processing. Vandebron integrated Akka, Cassandra, Kafka, Mesos, Spark, and Apache NiFi to consume data rapidly from different sources and create a forecast pipeline. Within three months, Vandebron was able to set up an IT infrastructure that could process large datasets in under four minutes. In the future, the company plans to expand its services that will allow energy producers to gain insight into the demand and expected revenue from production.
